BUTTERMILK CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2/3 c. Crisco
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
7 tsp. cocoa
1 c. boiling water

Mix sugar, eggs, Crisco, salt and vanilla together well. Add buttermilk and flour; mix well. Add soda and cocoa; mix well. Add 1 cup boiling water; mix together. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes in 2 layer pan or 40-45 minutes in 9 x 13 inch pan. Serves 8-10.

FROSTING:

Add together, mix until fluffy:

2 c. powdered sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
2 tbsp. milk
2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Sprinkle coconut on top if desired after frosting cake.
