ANGEL BISCUITS | |
1 pkg. dry yeast 1/4 c. warm water, 105-115 degrees 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. sugar 1/2 c. vegetable oil 1 c. non-fat buttermilk Dissolve yeast in warm water; let stand 5 minutes. Combine flour and next 4 ingredients; make a well in center of mixture. Add yeast mixture, oil and buttermilk; stir until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; roll to 1/2" thickness. Cut with 2" biscuit cutter; place on ungreased baking sheets Cover; let rise in warm place, 85 degrees, free from drafts, 1 hour. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until browned. Serves 24. |
