BOLOGNA SANDWICH
Buy some ham or bologna (one pack) and some bread (one loaf) and buy a little jar of mustard. Then you make yourself a bologna sandwich. Put the bread down on the table, put the bologna on it. Spread the mustard on the bologna. Put another piece of bread on the bologna, then eat it with some milk. Then clean up.

Bologna Sandwich

I like to spread butter on my bread before I put the bologna on it. That way if you run out of mustard the bologna tastes yummy with just the butter.

Thanks I'm just learning how to cook. This one really helped, anyone have a recipe to peanut butter and Jelly?

 Joe O'Dell (United States) replies:
I don't do peanut butter and jelly much but can help out with peanut butter and kosher dill pickle sandwich. Just coat a slice of bread (your choice, I prefer whole wheat) liberally with peanut butter place a kosher dill spear in the middle roll it up kind of like a hot dog and enjoy!

Yup! My mom made p-nut butter and dill pickle sandwiches about once a week for my grade school lunches. But she put 4 or 5 pickles on. Turned the p-nut butter purple. I loved them. That was 75 years ago. I still make them today, sometimes I use bread and butter pickles. Never been able to get anyone else to eat them. Missing out on a good thing!

Try this recipe using mayonnaise instead of mustard and also a slice if Colby cheese adds to it. If you happen to have a garden, fresh sliced tomatoes is a welcome addition.

Hey here's a little twist to this recipe. Try frying your bologna first and toast your bread. My opinion is if we are even on the internet talking about this sandwich we don't have enough to do!! But toasting and frying is a southern thang.

OK here's what you really do... butter 2 slices of bread and place the bologna and Sharp Cheddar in between them... now place the sandwich in the skillet buttered side down... basically your making a grilled cheese sandwich with a Lil flat hotdog in the middle... now enjoy what me and my kids call "ghetto steak and cheese sandwiches" camping favorite.... don't forget the strawberry soda and the potato chips.....

Have you ever tried taking a package of bologna and about a half jar of sweet pickles, grinding them together in a food processor. Then add enough salad dressing to make it stick together. Tastes yummy.

 Michelle (Florida) replies:
We had those sandwiches at Christmas Eve EVERY YEAR when I was growing up! My grandma would buy a big hunk of bologna, and grind it with onions, add sweet pickle relish, shredded cheddar cheese & salad dressing then put it on burger buns, wrap in foil & warm in the oven. :))) makes me hungry thinkin' bout it!!!

 David (Arizona) replies:
Gloria, my mother made the ground bologna sweet pickles and mayo. She called it ham salad. My wife could never make ham salad like mother so she asked her how and then informed me that was not ham salad. We have been married 46 years and she still claims that it is not ham salad.

OK here's the deal. Cut all the crust off of two slices of white bread. The fresher the bread, the better. Then put a slice of bologna on one slice of bread, and mustard on the other slice of bread. Put them together like a sandwich and with your hand press down on the sandwich until the mustard squishes out and the bread is as thin as the bologna. It's so good this way and your sandwich won't fall apart. I guarantee.

Great recipe!! But I'm wondering, could this be made with rye bread, or is white bread necessary?

 JOHN (Wisconsin) says:
Before you clean up you should ask your mother if she would like one.
   #71952
 Francis Lindbloom (Texas) replies:
John, I have enjoyed reading all of these recipes, but loved your remark, before you clean up, make sure you offer your mother one, since I am a mother. I am for the deep fried bologna, dipped in milk, not water, followed by immersion in flour, then fried in bacon drippings, followed by deep fried tomato slices, loaded onto cheap rainbow or sunbeam bread, smeared liberally with mayonnaise. If you must have mustard, open the jar, set it in the middle of the table and stick a flower in it for ambiance.

 Sue (Kansas) says:
First dip slice of bologna in water (so flour will stick) flour both sides and fry in skilled with a small amount of bacon drippings. Flip over when browned. Remove from skillet and allow to cool slightly. Then make sandwich with white bread and Miracle Whip. Yummy!!!
