BOLOGNA SANDWICH
Buy some ham or bologna (one pack) and some bread (one loaf) and buy a little jar of mustard. Then you make yourself a bologna sandwich. Put the bread down on the table, put the bologna on it. Spread the mustard on the bologna. Put another piece of bread on the bologna, then eat it with some milk. Then clean up.

Common sense can't be common anymore when you have to get directions on how to make a "bologna" sandwich... smh

I like bologna with mayo and sliced tomato on white bread. My kids LOVE it fried up in a pan with ketchup on white toast.

Here is a GUILTLESS high protein variation: Forget the bread and put two slices of bologna together with mustard in the middle! Oh, Atkins would be so proud!

Slice an asiago cheese bagel in half and butter lightly. Place buttered side down in hot cast iron skillet and toast a bit. In a second skillet, fry 3 slices Oscar Mayer lite bologna in skillet, adding a few vertical cuts along the edge of the bologna to limit curling. Spread one side of bagel with Mucky Duck mustard and the other side with a little wasabi mayonnaise (don't go crazy--this stuff can clear your sinuses). Slap on the bologna with a thin slice of red onion and a slice of cheddar cheese with dill pickle slices on the side. Sandwich should be served warm--so the cheese is just starting to melt. Enjoy!

In the 40s my mom made ground bologna and sweet pickles with salad dressing. I loved it and make it even now. My kids think I'm crazy, so I will show them all your comments.

Here's a secret recipe---take 2 fairly generous sized slices of crusty Italian bread---fresher the better. Slice on some cold butter---yes, in the chunks. Several slices of "baloney". Place top slice on the mix and press down hard to mash it together. Eat---something magic happens with the cold butter, cold meat, fresh bread...pure ambrosia...

Thank you Lisa for letting me know to remove that red band from around the bologna. All of my life I have been eating that stuff and didn't realize it wasn't digesting. Wow do I feel like an idiot.

I have had tremendous success with this recipe, but I would like to digress somewhat and talk about Spam. I use Spam for really special dinners (or lunches or even breakfasts) and I do this by frying some slices until they curl nicely and the edges are crispy browned- there should be a little pond of melted fat formed in the "dent" of the slice. Drain or not (up to your taste)- slap on some Miracle Whip or Cheez Whiz or both and enjoy your hard won culinary pleasure!! Beth in Pgh

I am amazed anyone had to post a recipe for a bologna sandwich. We've been eating them in SC for generations. I prefer mayonnaise over mustard with mine. Dress it up by lightly frying the bologna and add sharp cheese, then toast it.

Can't believe people are (still) crazy over bologna sandwiches! Being a "depression baby" we ate it every way mentioned and probably more! We had a special name for it-"FOOD" - and were very thankful for it. Thanks for the memories you've aroused. Oh yes, we "HAD" to use mom's fresh homemade bread!!!
