This is the ONLY fudge recipe I will ever make! My mother made this while I was a kid and I have never made any other kind if fudge. It's the BEST !! So creamy, just melts in your mouth. No one in our family cares for nuts in it so it literally melts in your mouth!

I bought morsels one time by mistake and they didn't want to melt - had lumpy fudge! I make sure I have chocolate chips only now. I use 1 cup chopped pecans.

Originally we used 1 cup Parkay margarine, 3 cups sugar, 12 oz. Nestle semi-sweet morsels, 5 fluid oz. evaporated milk, and called for 1/2 TEASPOON vanilla extract.. I have found that 1 tablespoon works better and the main trick is the rolling boil for 5 minutes exactly (especially if you have no candy thermometer) never stop stirring until off burner and boil stops. notice color change after 3.5 min... it must caramelize!!

Try adding 1 cup of JIF peanut butter to this recipe. And make sure you use Hershey chocolate chips. It actually makes a significant difference in this recipe to use these name brands.

I also make it substituting 12 oz. of white chocolate chip and I add Heath pieces instead of nuts. It is a great variation especially for those who are not a fan of chocolate.

This is very similar to my Mom's recipe, however we tweeeked it a bit. 4 cups of sugar; 2 sticks of butter and the entire can of evaporated milk. Works great and you don't have left over milk. We make this every Christmas.
