HALLOWEEN SUGAR COOKIES | |
1 1/2 cups shortening (I use half butter) 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 eggs 2 tsp. vanilla 1/3 cup milk 4 cups sifted all-purpose flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 2 tsp. salt DECORATION: 1/3 cup raisins (optional for eyes, nose, mouth) orange icing (optional) Cream shortening and vanilla. Add sugar gradually, creaming. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Add, alternating with milk. Chill dough thoroughly. Roll a portion of dough at a time to 1/4-inch thickness on lightly floured board. Cut, using large cutter (I use 1-pound coffee can). Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375°F for 10 minutes, or until browned. Decorate as pumpkins. Submitted by: CherylH |
