FROSTED SUGAR COOKIES 
2/3 c. shortening (Crisco)
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
4 tsp. milk
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar and vanilla. Add egg and beat until light and fluffy. Beat in milk.

Sift together dry ingredients. Using a wooden spoon - add dry mixture to the creamed mixture a little at a time. Mix well.

Cover and chill at least one hour.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters.

Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet in preheated oven (350 degrees) for 6-8 minutes. Makes 2 dozen cookies. Recipe can be easily doubled. Cool and frost.

FROSTING:

2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 stick butter

Add milk (1 to 2 tablespoons) until spreading consistency. Use food coloring for tinting.

I made these cookies today for a preview because my grand kids wanted me to make Santa some cookies , they are wonderful, I wouldn't change a thing except when I put food coloring in the icing I had to add more powder sugar, that's it there great....
