GERMAN SAUERKRAUT | |
1 jar sauerkraut 1/2 c. chopped onion 1 tsp. butter 6 strips bacon, fried crisp & crumbled 5 tbsp. applesauce Salt & pepper 1 1/2 c. water Use a skillet that will hold all ingredients. Brown slightly onions with 1 teaspoon butter. Set aside. Fry bacon crisp and crumble. Set aside and save grease. Open and pour out all juice from sauerkraut. Refill jar with water and empty this and sauerkraut, onions, water, salt and pepper in skillet and cook, uncovered, until water is gone. Then add applesauce, crumbled bacon and grease. Heat until hot. |
