GERMAN CHOCOLATE CARAMEL CAKE 
1 German chocolate cake mix
1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
1/3 c. canned milk
1/2 c. butter
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts

Mix cake by directions. Grease and flour 13 x 9 inch pan. Pour 1/2 batter in pan and cook 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Melt caramels, milk and butter in double boiler or microwave oven. Pour over baked portion of cake. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Pour on remaining batter and bake for 20 minutes at 250 degrees. Turn oven back to 350 degrees and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Be sure to put the caramel on first.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

The recipe I have is all most the same except for one detail .... after you take it out of the oven (the 1st time) BEFORE you add the caramel, etc. use the handle end of a wooden spoon and poke holes in the cake, then pour the caramel & add the "chips" & nuts. The rest is the same as the above recipe
