BEEF STROGANOFF 
1 1/2 lb. round steak
3 tbsp. butter
2/3 c. water
1 env. dry onion soup mix
1 (3 oz.) can sliced mushrooms
1 c. commercial sour cream
Hot cooked rice or fettuccine noodles

Slice round steak across the grain into thin, 4 x 1/2 inch strips. Melt the butter in medium sized skillet over moderately high heat, about 375 degrees. Add beef strips and cook and stir until browned. Reduce heat to moderately low, about 225 degrees; add water, onion soup mix, and undrained mushrooms. Cover and simmer 1 hour, or until meat is fork-tender. Remove from heat and let cook 5-10 minutes. Stir in sour cream. Serve with cooked rice or over fettuccine noodles. Serves 6.
