INORDINATELY FINE STROGANOFF 
3 lg. onions, chopped
2 cloves minced garlic
1 3/4 lb. sirloin steak, cut in thin strips
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. salad oil
2 tbsp. flour
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1 pt. sour cream
1 (8 oz.) can mushrooms
1/2 c. sherry
Salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce to taste
1 c. beef consomme

Saute onions, garlic and beef in fats. Blend in flour, add tomato paste, consomme, sour cream, mushrooms and sherry. Season. Cover. Simmer 2 hours or less if in a hurry. Sometimes 45 minutes will do it if meat is tender. Serves 5-6.
