HAMBURGER CORN PONE PIE 
1 lb. ground beef
1/3 c. chopped onion
1 tbsp. shortening
2 tsp. chili powder (or more)
1 tsp. Worcestershire
1 c. canned tomatoes, don't drain
1 ca. canned kidney beans, drained
1 c. corn bread batter (1/2 recipe)

Brown meat and onion in melted shortening (can omit shortening, ground beef usually has enough fat). Add seasonings and tomatoes; cover and simmer 15 minutes. Add kidney beans.

Pour into greased 1 or 1 1/2-quart casserole. Top with corn bread batter. Bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes. Yield 3-4 servings.
