APPLESAUCE CAKE 
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 1/2 c. applesauce
2 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. raisins
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar, egg and shortening. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with applesauce to cream mixture. Add vanilla and raisins. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan and bake. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.

BROWN SUGAR FROSTING:

1 c. brown sugar
1 c. powdered sugar
3 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. shortening
1/4 c. milk

Combine brown sugar, butter and shortening. Bring to boil. Add milk and boil 3 minutes. Cool slightly and add sifted powdered sugar.
