PASTA WITH TOMATO - BASIL SAUCE 
1/4 c. olive oil
2 med. onions, chopped
1-2 lg. garlic cloves, minced
1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes, chopped
1 1/2-2 tbsp. dried basil or 1/4 c. fresh
1/2 tsp. dried oregano or 1 1/2 tsp. fresh
1-1 1/2 tsp. sugar
Salt & freshly ground pepper
1 lb. linguini, cooked al dente
Freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Saute onion in oil until transparent, add garlic. Cook 2 more minutes. Add tomatoes and herbs. Bring to a boil until some of liquid has evaporated. Add sugar, salt and pepper to taste. Add pasta. Toss until blended. Serve immediately with Parmesan cheese.
