“TURKEY AND CABBAGE ROLL CASSEROLE” IS IN:

TURKEY AND CABBAGE ROLL
CASSEROLE
 
1 lb ground turkey breast
1 diced onion
1/2 diced celery
1/4 cup diced green bell pepper
2 tbsp rolled oats
1 tbsp chopped parsley
salt and pepper, to taste
1/4 tsp garlic powder
3 tbsp packed light brown sugar
1 small head cabbage
1 (15 oz can) tomato sauce
1/4 cup cider vinegar

In a large skillet, over medium-high heat cook turkey, onions, celery, and green bell pepper until browned, drain. Sprinkle meat mix with oats, parsley, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Core cabbage, cut into wedges. Place on top of meat mix.

In a bowl, combine tomato sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, mix well. Pour over cabbage mix. Cover, simmer 20-30 minutes or until cabbage is cooked.

Absolutely wonderful. I sauteed veggies and meat in bacon drippings, added 1 Tbsp of caraway seeds and 1 cup of water to make a bit of gravy. Used molasses in lieu of brown sugar and had some boiled potatoes on hand to serve with the casserole. Very, very good !

Have made this recipes several times and we love it! I also add a can of diced tomatoes in with the tomato sauce mixture.
