CONGO BARS 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. butter
1 lb. brown sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 lg. pkg. chocolate bits
1 c. nuts (opt.)

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. Melt butter; add brown sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat well after each one. Add dry ingredients. Add vanilla, chocolate bits and nuts. Spread on cookie sheet (11"x15"). Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Cut into squares when cool.
