TEA CAKES 
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening (Crisco or Wesson)
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift dry ingredients. Using mixer cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add vanilla and egg. Add flour. Beat until smooth. Blend in milk. Drop by spoon on cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Yields 5 1/2 dozen cookies.
