SWISS STEAK 
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground allspice
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 lbs. round beef steak about 1 inch thick
1/3 c. all-purpose flour
3 tbsp. shortening or salad oil
1 med. onion, minced

Rub salt and pepper well into steak. Dredge meat with flour. Pound flour with a mallet on the steak. Heat shortening in heavy casserole. Brown meat on both sides. Add onion, tomatoes and green peppers.

Cover and bake in a preheated oven (350 degrees F.) for about 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. Check for moisture. You may have to add a little water to prevent from sticking. Makes six servings.
