KOURABIEDES (BUTTER STICKS) 
1/2 c. butter
2 1/4 c. flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk

Melt half of the butter in a 13 x 9 x 2 baking dish. Sift flour into bowl with sugar, salt and baking powder. Cut in remaining butter. Add milk and stir until mixed. Turn out on floured board and roll 1/2 inch thick. Cut in strips 4 inch x 1 inch. Roll in melted butter in baking dish and place close together. Bake in hot oven 400 degrees 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 2 dozen.
