APPLESAUCE CAKE 
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. butter or shortening
2 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
3 c. all purpose flour, sifted
1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cloves
1 tbsp. baking soda
2 1/2 c. applesauce
2 tbsp. corn syrup
1 c. raisins
1 c. chopped nuts

Cream butter, add sugar gradually. Add unbeaten eggs one at a time. Sift flour, soda, cocoa, and spices. Add alternately with combined applesauce and syrup. Fold in raisins and nuts. Pour batter in 15 x 10 inch pan or 3 loaf pans or 1 angel food pan. Bake in slow oven at 300 degrees for about 1 1/2 hours.
