MACARONI AND CHEESE SOUP 
2 tbsp. shortening
3 tbsp. flour
1 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 c. water
1 c. macaroni, cooked
2 c. shredded cabbage, cooked
1 c. grated cheese

Melt shortening; blend in flour, cook about 1 minute. Gradually add milk. Continue to cook over low flame. Simmer, stirring constantly until thickened. Add salt and pepper; boil 1 minute. Combine with remaining ingredients; simmer until cheese melts. 4 to 6 servings.
