1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 large eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. raisins
1 c. chopped pecans
2 c. hot applesauce

Mix shortening (butter, lard or Crisco), sugar and eggs. Sift flour, baking soda, salt and spices together. Add to liquid mixture. Blend well. Fold in raisins and nuts. Add hot applesauce, blend thoroughly. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 45 minutes, or until done.

Bake at 350°F until toothpick comes out clean.
