BAKED CUSTARD 
6 eggs or 8 egg yolks
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. sugar
4 c. scalded milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Nutmeg

Beat eggs slightly. Add salt, sugar, then milk and vanilla. Pour into 3-quart, greased baking dish and sprinkle top with nutmeg. Place baking dish in shallow pan of water and bake at 325 degrees for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

To test for doneness, insert silver knife in custard. If it comes out clean, custard is done. Cool in refrigerator. Serves 6 to 8.
