BAKED CUSTARD 
3 c. milk
4 eggs
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Heat milk until very warm while beating together eggs, sugar and salt. Gradually stir in milk and vanilla. Pour mixture into six (6 ounce) custard cups. Set in a large baking pan. Place on oven rack, pour very hot water into baking pan to within 1/2 inch of top of custard. The water bath promotes even cooking. Bake about 1/2 hour in preheated 350 degree oven until a knife inserted off center comes out clean.
