BAKED CUSTARD 
4 eggs
2 c. milk
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
Ground nutmeg (optional)

In medium bowl mix eggs lightly. Stir in milk, sugar, vanilla and salt. Place 1 quart casserole or 6 ounce custard cups in a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan on oven rack. Pour custard mixture into cooking containers. Sprinkle with nutmeg.

Pour boiling water into pan around the casserole or custard cups to 1 inch depth. Bake at 325 degrees for 50-60 minutes. Insert knife in center. When it comes out clear, custard is cooked. Warm or chilled.
