APPLE CRISP 
3/4 c. melted shortening (butter)
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. flour
1 c. quick oatmeal

Cream butter, sugar, flour, and oatmeal. Reserve 1 cup crumbs for topping. Press remaining crumbs into 9 x 13 pan.

FILLING:

6 lg. apples (peeled)
3 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. cold water
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Cut apples into twelfths and place on crust. Combine cornstarch, sugar, salt, and water in saucepan and bring to boil. Boil until thick, stirring constantly.

Pour over apples. Sprinkle on remaining crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes. Top with whipped cream.
