GRANDMA JOHNSON'S CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 sqs. chocolate, unsweetened
2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. hot water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine butter, sugar, eggs and chocolate in large mixing bowl. Cream until smooth. In separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Alternate adding flour mixture and buttermilk into the first four ingredients. When mixture is smooth, then add vanilla and hot water. Stir until smooth. Pour into 9 x 13 inch greased and floured pan. Bake 30 to 35 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
