HAM, CABBAGE & NOODLE CASSEROLE | |
1 med. cabbage 1 (12 oz.) wide noodles 3 c. milk 1 stick butter 3 c. cooked ham, ground 3 eggs, beaten 1/2 tsp. caraway seeds Parmesan cheese Steam cabbage in microwave until aldente. Cut core out and cut remaining cabbage in 2-inch pieces. Set aside. Cook noodles until tender but firm. Drain and rinse with cold water. In medium saucepan, beat milk until bubbles form around edge of pan. Remove from heat; set aside. In heavy skillet, melt butter. Add cabbage and saute over high heat 5 minutes, until tender. Layer half cooked noodles in buttered casserole, half sauteed cabbage and ham in even layers. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and repeat cabbage and noodle layers. Beat scalded milk and eggs. Add caraway seeds. Pour over casserole. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 1 hour. |
