RAISIN AND NUT CAKE 
1/2 box raisins
1 c. water
1/4 lb. butter
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts
3/4 c. milk

Bring raisins, water, and butter to a boil. Let boil 5 minutes. Take off heat; add baking soda. Mix together flour, brown sugar, and spices. Add to batter alternating with milk. Add the nuts. Pour into a greased and floured loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
