BRAN MUFFINS 
2 c. boiling water
1 c. shortening
3 c. white sugar
2 c. All Bran cereal
4 eggs
1 tbsp. salt
3 tbsp. baking soda
5 c. flour
1 qt. buttermilk
4 c. bran flakes
2 c. raisins
1 c. nuts, if desired

Pour boiling water over shortening, sugar and All Bran. Add eggs. Sift and add salt, soda, and flour. Add buttermilk and beat. Stir in bran flakes and raisins. Store in covered container 24 hours before baking. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Can be stored 6 weeks or more in refrigerator.
