CRINKLES 
2 1/4 c. plain flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. powdered cloves
1 tsp. ginger
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
Sugar sprinkled on top

Sift first 6 ingredients. Mix shortening, brown sugar and egg. Mix molasses then flour, etc. Chill 1 hour. Dip balls into sugar. Press down with fork. Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 375 degrees.
