SOUTH OF THE BORDER STEAK 
3 lb. steak
1/3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
2 tbsp. shortening
2 c. sliced onions
1 c. sliced celery
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1/4 c. vinegar
Sliced mushrooms

Combine flour, salt, and pepper. Pound seasoned flour into both sides of meat. Brown on both sides in hot shortening. Sprinkle remaining flour on meat; add onions, celery, tomato sauce, and vinegar. Cover and simmer until meat is tender, about 2 hours. (Add small amount of water to pan if necessary.) Sprinkle sliced mushrooms over meat 15 minutes before end of cooking time.
