DATE PUDDING CAKE | |
1 pkg. chopped dates 2 c. flour 1 c. sugar 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 2-3 tsp. cinnamon 2 tbsp. shortening 1 c. milk 1/2 c. chopped nuts In a large mixing bowl combine all the ingredients except nuts, beat at medium speed until well blended. Grease a 9 inch square pan and spread the above mixture in it. SAUCE: 1 3/4 c. brown sugar (firmly packed) 1 1/2 c. water 2 tbsp. butter Combine these ingredients in a pan; bring to a boil. Pour hot sauce over cake and sprinkle with nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes until top springs back when touched. Serve warm with whipped cream. |
