OATMEAL CAKE AND TOPPING 
1 stick butter
1 c. raw oatmeal
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda

Combine butter, oats, and boiling water. Stir and set aside for 20 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes.

TOPPING:

6 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. coconut
1/2 c. canned milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts

Combine all ingredients together. Spread over cake while still warm. Place in broiler until butter melts and top is lightly browned.
