CHOCOLATE CHIP SCONES
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 heaping tbsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1 1/2 to 2 cups cream
2 eggs, beaten
1 (6 oz.) bag chocolate chips or dried fruit

Preheat oven to 375°F.

In large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Mix well. Cut in butter.

In a separate bowl, combine cream with the beaten eggs then add to the dry ingredients. Dough should be sticky not dry. If it is dry add more cream. Stir in chocolate chips or fruit.

Turn dough out onto a floured surface. Knead a few times then roll out into a 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into desired shape.

Place on a ungreased baking sheet and bake at 375°F until light golden brown.

Note: I have found that dark chocolate chips go really well with this dough for a milder taste.
