APPLESAUCE PUMPKIN BREAD 
2/3 c. shortening
2 2/3 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 c. canned applesauce
1 c. mashed pumpkin
3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. mace
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2/3 c. apple juice
1 c. walnuts or pecans, chopped

Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Stir in applesauce and pumpkin. Sift together dry ingredients and add alternately with apple juice. Stir in nuts. Turn batter into two greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pans.

Bake at 350°F for one hour or until done.

Makes two loaves.
