SHOOFLY PIE 
CRUST:

2 c. flour
1/2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. heaping Crisco

SYRUP:

1 c. Karo (dark)
1 c. hot water
1 tsp. baking soda

Mix together. Pour 1 cup syrup mixture into each pie shell (1/4 extra if desired).

TOPPING:

2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 to 3/4 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. white sugar
2 tbsp. Crisco

Mix together to make crumbs, put on top of syrup mixture. Bake at 475 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Lower temperature to 375 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes. Try with toothpick to come back dry.
