LAYERED SALAD 
1 head lettuce, cut up
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/2 c. onion
green pepper
1 can sliced water chestnuts, drained
1 box frozen peas
grated carrots
2 c. mayonnaise
grated cheese

Layer head of lettuce in oblong dish or bowl. Add celery, onion, green pepper, water chestnuts, frozen peas and carrots. Spread over all this mayonnaise. Sprinkle with cheese. Refrigerate overnight.
