3/4 c. soft shortening
1 c. brown sugar, packed
2 1/4 c. sifted Gold Medal flour
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. seedless raisins
1 egg
1/2 c. applesauce
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix together thoroughly the shortening, brown sugar, egg. Stir in applesauce. Sift together flour, soda, salt, spice and stir. Mix in raisins and nuts. Drop by teaspoonful onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes. Makes 4 dozen.
