BEST PICKLES 
10 med. cucumbers
8 c. sugar
2 tbsp. mixed pickling spices
5 tsp. salt
4 c. cider vinegar

Place whole cucumbers in a glass or stoneware jar. Cover with boiling water, let stand overnight. Drain, repeat three times. On the fifth day, drain and slice in 1/2" pieces. Combine sugar, spices, salt and vinegar; bring to a boil. Pour over pickles. Let stand 2 days. On the 3rd day, bring to a boil and pack in hot jar. Seal. These pickles are a sweet and very good pickle.
