MCDONALD'S CHEESEBURGER COPYCAT
Mmm . . . the classic McDonald's cheeseburger! I always at least quadruple the recipe--with the prices of fast food these days and its one-of-a-kind craveable taste, why not?? :-)

1 plain hamburger bun
1/8 lb. beef patty (approximately 1/4-inch thick)
1 slice American cheese
few pinches of salt
1 tsp. dried minced onions
2 tbsp. boiling water
3 dill pickle slices
1 tbsp. ketchup
1 tsp. yellow mustard

In a small bowl, mix dried minced onions with boiling water. Cover and allow to sit for 20-30 minutes to soften and “rehydrate” onions.

Bring a non-stick skillet to medium heat; place bun halves cut sides-down into skillet to toast. Once they reach a light golden color, remove from skillet and set aside.

Salt one side of burger patty; place salted side-down into skillet used to toast buns. Salt top while other side cooks; cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, then top with a cheese slice. When cheese starts to melt, remove burger from heat.

Stir onions well; drain any excess water if necessary.

To assemble, place cheeseburger on bottom bun half. To top half of bun, add ketchup, then mustard, rehydrated onions, then the pickle slices. Carefully place over cheeseburger and press lightly.

Microwave burger for 10 to 15 seconds to get that "steamed bun" effect.

Enjoy your “McDonald’s Cheeseburger” with a side of shoestring fries!

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
