AUNT MARY'S IRISH SODA BREAD | |
4 c. flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. caraway seeds 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. plump raisins 2 eggs 1 1/2 c. buttermilk 3 tbsp. melted butter Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar together. Add raisins which have been soaked in water for 5 minutes and caraway seeds. Beat eggs and add to buttermilk. Combine dry ingredients. Stir just enough to moisten. Do not over mix! Place into 9-inch greased round pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. While still hot pour over melted butter. |
