PEPPER & CHEESE BREAD 
1/2 c. butter
2 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 - 1 1/2 tsp. black pepper
3/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 lb. (2 c.) shredded cheddar cheese
2 eggs
1 (8 oz.) plain yogurt

Melt butter. Mix flour, baking powder, pepper, soda and salt. Stir in cheddar. Mix slightly beaten eggs and yogurt and melted butter, add to flour mixture just enough to moisten. Spoon into 9"x5"x3" buttered and floured loaf pan. Bake at 375 degrees until golden, about 35 minutes. One loaf may be rolled 1/2" thick and cut with 2 1/2" biscuit cutter. Bake 1" apart 15 to 18 minutes. Yield: 16 biscuits.
