CRULLERS 
1 c. milk
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening (oleo), melted
2 eggs
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. nutmeg (or 3/4 tsp.)
1/2 tsp. salt
About 4 1/2 c. flour

Dissolve sugar in milk, add eggs and mix. Add 1 cup flour with baking powder, nutmeg and salt. Add shortening and remaining flour to make a dough stiff enough to handle. Roll 1/2 inch thick. (Pat a piece 12 x 4 inches.) Divide dough in half and then pat. Fry in deep fat at 360 degrees. Drain on brown paper. Roll in powdered sugar or a powdered sugar and water paste. Makes 2 dozen.
