TOFFEE COOKIES 
A Crisp Bar with Chocolate Frosting.

1 cup (2 sticks) margarine
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
chopped nuts, for sprinkling

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Cream margarine and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Mix well. Add flour and combine. Spread 1/4-inch thick over an area approximately 13x15-inches on baking sheet 17x14-inches.

Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes.

While cookies are baking, melt the chocolate chips over hot water. Spread over surface of the cookies while hot.

Sprinkle the top with chopped nuts and cut at once into bars.

Makes about 4 dozen bars (2-inches square).
