FESTIVE CARAMEL BARS 
32 individually wrapped caramel squares
2/3 c. (5 1/3 oz.) evaporated milk
1 c. flour
1 c. quick oats, uncooked
1 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter, melted
1 1/2 c. M&Ms, plain

Combine caramels and milk in heavy saucepan; cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until caramels are melted and mixture is well blended. Combine flour, oats, nuts, sugar, soda, and salt; add butter, mixing until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve 1 cup; press remaining mixture onto bottom of greased 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Sprinkle 1 cup candies over partially baked crust; drizzle melted caramel mixture over candies. Sprinkle over reserved crumb mixture and remaining candies. Continue baking 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly; chill 30 minutes. Cut into bars. Makes one 13 x 9 inch pan of cookies.
