COLD WATER DILL PICKLES 
Canning cucumbers
2 tbsp. salt
1 tsp. alum (or less)
1/2 c. white vinegar
Dill
Onion or garlic
Grape leaves, optional

Pack cucumbers in quart jars with dill, onion or garlic and grape leaves if you wish. Add 2 tablespoons of salt, 1 teaspoon alum and 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Fill jars with cold water, seal tight, shake well and put on shelf. All done!
