GERMAN CHOCOLATE BARS 
1 bag (14 oz.) caramels
1 c. evaporated milk
1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
3/4 c. butter
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. nuts

Combine caramels with 2/3 cup milk. Melt in double broiler over low heat or in microwave. In separate bowl, mix cake mix, butter and remaining 1/3 cup milk. Press half of this mixture into ungreased 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Remove from oven. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Pour melted caramel mixture over nuts and chips. Top with remaining cake mixture. Bake 20 minutes longer. Cool completely before cutting. Keep refrigerated.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
