CREAM AND CHEESE PRETZEL FRUIT SALAD | |
2 c. crushed pretzel sticks 3/4 c. butter, melted 3 tsp. sugar 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened 1 c. sugar 1/2 pt. whipping cream, whipped 1 (8 oz.) carton sour cream 1 c. fresh strawberries, sliced 3 oranges, peeled and sectioned 1 (8 oz.) pkg. chopped dates 2 bananas, sliced 1/4 c. shredded mild cheddar cheese 1/4 c. chopped walnuts or pecans Mix pretzels, butter, and 3 teaspoons sugar together. Pat into a 9 x 13 inch glass baking dish. Bake 8 minutes at 400 degrees. Set aside to cool. Cream the sour cream, cream cheese, and 1 cup sugar together until smooth. Fold in about a third of the whipped cream. Spread this mixture over the cooled pretzel crust. Chill. Shortly before serving, mix the strawberries, oranges, bananas, and dates together, reserving some nice slices of berries and oranges to decorate the top. Spread fruit mixture over the top of the cream cheese layer. Spread the remaining whipped cream over the fruit layer. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over this. Decorate with fruits and nuts. Refrigerate. Serves 15. |
