EASTER BREAD | |
10 c. flour 1 c. sugar 3/4 tbsp. salt 1 1/2 c. scalded milk 1/2 c. butter, melted & cooled 6 eggs 1 1/2 oz. yeast dissolved in 1/2 c. warm water & 1/2 tbsp. sugar A little less than 1/2 c. vanilla extract 1/2 oz. brandy extract Mix flour, sugar and salt. Make a well and add the scalded milk and cooled butter. Beat eggs and add to mixture. Add in vanilla, yeast mixture and brandy. Mix and knead. Let rise. Punch down and let rise again. Form into your own design. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 45 minutes (longer for extra large quantities). After baked, glaze with a mixture of 1 egg and 1/2 teaspoon water (beaten together). Return to oven for 5 minutes. If you double, use 3/4 cup vanilla extract. |
